Saltwood Finisterre: As Featured in Hi-Fi+ Review
We’re thrilled to share that Hi-Fi+ Magazine (Issue 248) has published a glowing hi-fi+ review of the Saltwood Finisterre — our first full-range loudspeaker, designed and hand-built in Pamplona. Reviewer Jason Kennedy called it “an impressive loudspeaker for a newcomer… any company that can think outside the box and deliver such engaging results is of great interest.”
A Scientific Mind Meets Seafaring Craft
Hi-Fi+ captured what makes Saltwood so distinct — the combination of scientific precision and boatbuilder craftsmanship. As Kennedy notes, “A scientific mind and a boatbuilding skillset clearly combine well when developing something a little different.”
Built from birch ply laminations with a walnut hardwood baffle, the Finisterre’s design echoes the Atlantic coast it’s named after — strong, natural, and deeply resonant.
Sound That Floats Free
The review praised Saltwood’s innovative LEV system (Levitation & Elimination of Vibrations), which “creates a sense that the speaker is floating from an aesthetic point of view.”
That floating feeling extends to the sound itself: “Superb timing… combining two high-quality drivers like these doubles the effect. The bass does indeed go very low and is one of this speaker’s most attractive qualities.”
Beyond Bright: Rich, Controlled, Natural
Despite its metal drivers, Hi-Fi+ highlighted how natural the Finisterre sounds: “With two metal drivers, you might expect it to sound bright and thin, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.”
The combination of the 8-inch Purifi mid/bass and beryllium tweeter delivers “superb articulation, powerful yet controlled low frequencies, and engaging rhythm.”
